Dive into the Post-Apocalyptic Wasteland of Fallout
The Fallout series does not really need much introduction to the general gaming audience since it has been around for more than two decades. Actually, make that almost three decades in order to be a bit more precise, since the initial entry in the Fallout series games became available all the way back in 1997 and established the world of the wasteland crushed by nuclear bombs.
Very recently the franchise made a jump from the gaming scene towards another popular format – TV series, and there is already a full first season that has now been available for some time on the multimedia streaming service of Amazon Prime.
Because there is never a bad time to write about the Fallout series, we decided to bring you a quick review of some the latest mainline game releases in the ever-so-popular title, the TV show and other interesting updates that have been just asking to be discussed. So, make sure to dive deep into the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Fallout with us on this one! Let us start!
A once thriving world that became engulfed in a chaotic wasteland mess!
With the rapid advancements in technology in the 40s and the discovery of atomic power, the world quickly became very technological giving rise to all kinds of innovation and improvements for daily life but all this came perhaps too suddenly and the rapid growth of various corporations and political interests potentially caused what is now known as the divergence event that turned the world in a very different direction than the one we know in our own reality.
At first everything seemed to be thriving and industry was booming, production of goods was delivering all the necessities to the population and life was actually kind of awesome for some period of time. The required raw materials for this new technological era however started depleting rather rapidly and not very much later there were shortages on a grand scale that caused the Resource wars to begin in the next century.
Entire countries got wiped out of the face of the planet and their territories, resources and population got left at the mercy of the greater powers and their goals of ultimate rule over the planet. As the few major players battled over for some of the last remaining oil reserves an unexpected event on October 23rd 2077 became popular as the “Great war”, although it only lasted a few hours it was long enough to cause massive levels of nuclear destruction and doom what’s left of humanity to either vanish or hide away from the surface of the planet in what are cleverly constructed vaults designed by Vault Tec for just such a scenario.
Survivors were instructed to stay inside and got sealed-in these shelters, each of them having its own timer of reopening and a particular and quite unique stipulation setting the culture and wholesome environment inside it for the inhabitants. Some had a nice atmosphere with delightful conditions, but other did not share the same fate and presented major risks and dangers that were very unwelcoming to the people located inside them. As they await the day to resurface onto the planet once again and eventually recalibrate nature and society towards the unknown, all vault dwellers needed to handle their specific vault condition and abide to the rules of the cast they belong to, and this all brings us to the part where we have a look at the last few mainline releases and how does the Fallout TV series fit in this devastated world as seen on Amazon’s hit show. Since the announcement and recent premiere of the sci-fi show, the games have regained a lot of their popularity back so let us have a quick look at the last few entries in the series:
Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition
In Fallout 3 you are going to experience some the most acclaimed moments the series has to offer. You make your very own character and go deep into the vicious, post-apocalyptic world in which each moment could turn into a fight for survival. This entry includes not only the main game but also has multiple additional packs in order to further enrich your adventure and familiarity with more obscure moments in the history of the game. The fractions and political matters in the story are deep and immersive, the resource would not be enough for all, so whose side would you be on and will that keep you alive in this franchise-changing entry?
You can also get the Fallout 3: Game of The Year edition too and decide to go on Operation: Anchorage - a military-based simulation that takes you to the fight for the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders, or travel to the post-apocalyptic remains of Pittsburgh in The Pitt and get yourself involved in a rising conflict happening between the slaves on one side and their ruthless Raider masters on the other end of the battle.
Perhaps the fight against the Enclave remnants alongside Liberty Prime in Broken steel is going to thrill you as well or maybe the Point Lookout assignment in which you are going to embark on a mysterious and open-ended storyline all happening in a huge, murky swampland along the coast of Maryland.
And if you are looking for an even more action-packed mode then Mothership Zeta is the one for you where you would need to defeat the hostile alien abductors and manage to find your way off of the alien mothership that is orbiting miles above the Capital Wasteland.
With such a rich selection of additional content mission you simply cannot go wrong and the time in front of the monitor is going to keep you engaged for very long!

The TV show that tried and actually managed to recapture the feel of an outstanding gaming hit series!
Earlier this year we got the first season of the Fallout TV series created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. The show stars the likes of Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean, a young Vault 33 dweller on the search for love and her lifelong partner, Aaron Moten as Maximus, a member of the Brotherhood of Steel who is on his path of ambition and proving himself worthy of the armor, Kyle MacLachlan as Hank MacLean, Lucy's father and the main Overseer of Vault 33, Moisés Arias as Norm MacLean, who is another Vault 33 resident, and is Lucy's brother and of course Walton Goggins as The Ghoul / Cooper Howard, portraying a famous Hollywood actor and Vault-Tec ambassador that turned into a mutated ghoul since the bombs dropped and is currently making his living as a bounty hunter for hire.
The show started production back in 2022 and had to be shot in some deserted locations and actual shipwrecks so that it manages to capture the feel and atmosphere of the Fallout gameplay and storyline in order to stay as loyal as possible to the source material and we think they did a pretty decent job at it.
Both fans and critics have a very high praise of the show and the whole aesthetics of the episodes really do transfer the main characteristics of the Fallout series games and do look astonishingly detailed and captivating. It does however rush a bit through lots of places perhaps in an attempt to represent as much as possible of the environments and thus not going too deep in many of them.
It does however deliver not only action and sci-fi flavors, there is quite a bit of more comical and quirky moments to keep the audience’s attitude lighter at times and our favorite is the Ghoul who simply steals the show for us with his sarcastic and at times very begrudged behavior. The stories of the other two main protagonist characters are also quite interesting and they do get entangled quite a bit towards the end of the season as conspiracy, family matters and redemption themes mix into one big finale that leaves us wanting more.
Being the second highest in initial popularity show with a spectacular run during the first weeks of its premiere on the Amazon Prime platform, there is definitely going to be another season coming up soon, surely it would carry on into more adventures since there were still details that remain to be explained and we simply cannot wait to see what would happen next in it, since this is one of our favorite franchises and the depiction of it so far has been so great!
It seems that the Fallout franchise is quite alive and kicking as per usual and there is nothing stopping it in its track towards new expansions even outside the world of pure gaming, as for that there is still the quote made at the beginning of an interview In June 2022 by Todd Howard who stated that “Fallout 5 would begin development after the completion of The Elder Scrolls VI”, but there is not yet any official announcement for either of the next installments in both series as of yet, but trust us when we say that as soon as there is some significant movement around that valuable piece of information we would be among the first to let you know about it, until next time when we would continue our quest to keep you notified with everything important in gaming that you need to know!
