When it originally got released as a PSP exclusive, Ys SEVEN was actually the first fully 3D Ys title in the series up to then, and also the first Ys title to include an incorporated party-based battle system that would allow players to quickly swap control over characters in a real-time dynamic, and also the most story-heavy Ys game of its time.
This original PC port represents the game in full upscaled HD graphics with a vast variety of resolution options, incredibly smooth 60 fps gameplay, full Steamworks integration that features a great variety of new achievements to gather, and what is more exciting is the fact that there is even a revised and improved localization in order to ensure that players would receive the most immersive gaming experience available of the game.
Join the redheaded adventurer Adol Christin and his loyal companion, Dogi, as they are making a good use of their strong pirate connections from past adventures and endeavors to weigh their anchor in the bustling port city of Altago – a former capital of world trading that was cut off from foreign visitations for a long period of time by an all-too-recently finished war with the Romun empire.
The people of Altago are still very cautious and distrustful of any foreign visitors, and the land is actually crawling with multiple monstrous creatures which are not affected at all by the powers of standard steel weapons, making Adol’s tested and true arsenal from past games quite ineffective against them.
Our hero is forced to rearm and retrain from scratch – and to manage to prove his worth to this new country’s somewhat xenophobic population – Adol takes up on a king’s quest to explore the nearby ruins, only to find himself in the middle of a high-stakes game of appeasing ancient dragons and saving the world… once again.
Along the way, he is going to meet with a large variety of companions, both old and new ones, who would come with him on his quest, all happening via the newly introduced party system, in which up to three different characters can be controlled at any time.
Only through mastering the use of pierce, slash, and thrust attacks, as well as the dozens of unique skills, quick dodging, “flash guarding,” and many more, can Adol and his trusty team unravel the mystery of the Five Great Dragons, that represent the five ancient tribes of Altago, and the more recent string of shattering earthquakes that pose a serious threat to tear apart this ancient and storied land.
Take part in the first Ys adventure of the modern era with enhanced graphical features that would not only impress you, but captivate your attention for quite a bit! The frantic challenges and massive boss creatures that once made this historic series infamous are back once again, and they are bigger and harder than ever.
Is SEVEN your lucky number! If not, it would be from now on!
