Monthly Recap - June Edition

Monthly Recap - June Edition

The month of June kept things in the gaming world quite heated and summer is just beginning! We have the latest important updates prepared and they are certainly ones you should check out as the rest of the year shapes up to have outstanding titles coming up! Read on and find out everything about it in the following stories.

Official GTA 6 Release Date, Pre-Order Offers and Planned Versions

We finally got confirmation of a release date for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), which is set to launch on November 19th 2026, exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There are not going to be any versions available for older consoles such as PS4 or Xbox One, nor for the Nintendo Switch platforms. This exclusive release schedule seems to actually be quite intentional, as the game is designed in a way to fully take advantage of the latest cutting edge technologies that are only found in current-generation hardware.

GTA 6 Pre-orders got started on June 25th 2026. However, an important detail to note here is that the physical version does not come with a traditional packaged CD; instead, it would only include a key code that allows you to download the game from the web. Digital pre-loading is going to start on November 12th 2026, allowing players to download the game in advance of its official release date, which is the recommended option, due to the expected size of the game's world.

GTA 6 will have two editions available for purchase. The Standard edition has been priced at $79.99 and includes only the full base game. The Ultimate edition would cost $99.99 and comes with extra digital content and multiple bonuses. All pre-orders made before November 20th 2026, would grant buyers the Vintage Vice City Pack, regardless of which edition they chose to purchase.

Currently, there is still no official confirmation regarding a Windows PC version of GTA 6. Rockstar has not yet provided a specific release date, price, or system requirements for a PC edition. Based on the company’s history with past releases, it is expected that a GTA 6 PC version may become available sometime in 2027 or even 2028, but this has not been officially confirmed yet.

For the potential PC players, some community estimates suggest that the minimum requirements might align with hardware comparable to the PS5 and Xbox Series X, such as an NVIDIA RTX 3060 or AMD RX 6700 XT, with at least 16GB of RAM and a fast NVMe SSD. The recommended specifications may include more advanced hardware like the NVIDIA RTX 4070 or AMD RX 7800 XT.

GTA 6 is expected to be significantly larger than its predecessor, GTA 5, with a huge world that has been in the making for more than 10 years and would include diverse types of environments and numerous accessible activities to enjoy, making it the most interesting entry in the GTA series to date.

A New Dark Fantasy Expansion for the Lords of the Fallen II

Lords of the Fallen II is set to expand the dark fantasy series with a new kingdom and even greater threats. Following the success of the 2023 reboot, developer Hexworks and publisher CI Games announced the sequel at Gamescom 2025, with a planned launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC. The game takes place in a world where the boundary between life and death is collapsing and this disaster is definitely bringing dire consequences.

The sequel - Lords of the Fallen II - is a dark fantasy action RPG featuring challenging Soulslike combat. Players are going to explore a shattered kingdom threatened by the Umbral darkness, a force that has repeatedly devastated nations over the years. The world is on the brink of extinction as the darkness advances and ancient powers fade into obscurity. Set around a hundred years after the events of the 2023 game, the Umbral disaster has further weakened the barrier between the living and the dead. This situation has left humanity isolated, with survival dependent on a new hero who could face up against the seemingly immortal forces.

Combat in Lords of the Fallen II would be faster, more aggressive and focused on improving the flow of attacks, dodges, counters and executions. Players are encouraged to take more risks while being rewarded for their precise timing and positioning. The game is going to introduce a new set of execution animations in order to enhance the brutality of the various encounters.

Boss battles will be much more significant this time around, featuring colossal enemies that would  challenge the players' skills and mastery of the combat system. Just like in the previous game of the franchise, there are going to be options for melee and ranged combat, along with various magical abilities and character builds. While the exact release date is still to be announced, this sequel aims to build on the reboot's foundation while exploring darker themes in a new setting.

A New Survival Horror Game is Pushing the Limits of the Genre

ILL is a survival horror game that aims to make players feel very uncomfortable with its disturbing imagery and themes. Developed by Team Clout, it is destined to reach the Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S at some point in 2027.

This upcoming game is set in a large research facility that has been taken over by a mysterious force, leading to the emergence of grotesque creatures called Aberrations. Players must fight against these horrors while searching for the truth behind the disaster and attempting to rescue another important to the storyline character.

The gameplay combines survival horror elements with storytelling through the environment, realistic physics and intense combat. ILL has been described as a narrative-driven experience that would require players to adapt to the unpredictable threats and manage their limited resources in a very, very hostile setting. There is a strong emphasis placed on body horror, featuring detailed dismemberment, graphic damage to the creatures and realistic combat reactions. Players would be able to see the physical effects of their attacks on the enemies, further enhancing the sense of brutal realism.

Survival in ILL is not just about having weapons, as ammunition is quite limited and every enemy poses a real threat to your safety. Players need to scavenge around for supplies, craft important items they need and make strategic choices about when to fight or retain their resources. They could also use the environment to their advantage, such as throwing bricks to stun enemies or utilizing objects found in the facility as part of their survival tactics.

The game's realistic physics make the environment actively involved in the ILL gameplay, reacting to player actions and affecting enemy behavior. With its focus on a tangible and threatening world, ILL definitely stands out among the upcoming horror game titles and is already highly anticipated for its release in 2027.
