Borderlands 4

A very anticipated hit title this year was Borderlands 4 by Gearbox. It offers incredible action-packed gameplay with a whole squad of new characters and countless weapons to pick from on a morbid planet called Kairos. This world is ruled by a dreadful tyrant called the Timekeeper, to stop him players have to choose from four unique Vault Hunters, each of them coming with powerful and customizable abilities separated in skill trees. You would need to face up against multiple challenges the Timekeeper sets upon you, all while a catastrophic disaster disrupts his total control, creating chaos amidst the world of Kairos.

This entry in the Borderlands franchise promotes dynamic movement with abilities such as double jumping, gliding and dodging, thus allowing players to attack the enemies from many angles. As usual the arsenal includes a ton of exciting weapons that bring utter mayhem to each battle, complemented by loot and crafting opportunities. Borderlands 4 is designed for cooperative play, supporting four players in online co-op mode. It features level scaling and individual difficulty settings to enhance team experiences, making it really fun to explore together.

Players can roam a vast and dangerous environment filled with deadly factions, interesting quests and memorable characters. Ride hover bikes through the diverse terrains and engage in spontaneous events, all while working to unite the people of Kairos. This installment definitely breathes new life into the series, introducing smoother combat with innovative movement options and refreshing enemy designs. METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER

This summer we got METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER, which is a remake of the 2004 game METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER, developed by Konami and Virtuous. The game does feature the same engaging story and environment, but with new enhanced graphics and 3D audio for an improved immersion. Players are going to face up to a stealthy action-survival adventure set during the Cold War, where Naked Snake, later known as Big Boss, is on a mission to retrieve the defecting scientist Sokolov but ultimately faces betrayal from his mentor, The Boss, leading to Sokolov's capturing.

The game offers players the beloved original elements, including story, characters, voice acting and music, while updating them for modern consoles by using Unreal Engine 5. It presents lush jungles, forests and swamps with detailed graphics and realistic battle damage so that players could experience injuries on Snake in real-time, with options for both modern or classic controls.

New game modes introduce fresh gameplay experiences, such as SNAKE VS MONKEY, where players capture escaped apes, as well as FOX HUNT - an online multiplayer stealth mode. The Secret Theater feature unlocks video scenes when players find film canisters. GUY SAVAGE Δ, a revamped nightmare mode is also available after the main story completion. Players are able to pick their heroes from a wide variety of historical figures (now coming selectable independently from their respective civilizations) and evolve their empire through the different historical in-game Ages.

Naturally, the game features complex city building, technology development and options to conquer or cooperate with other civilizations, while exploring for new territories. The title has both solo and online multiplayer modes to keep you engaged for quite a bit. Achieving milestones in areas like science, culture, military and economy is key to progressing through the ages and players must reshape their empire at the start of each age by choosing new upgrades based on their past accomplishments, thus introducing new bonuses and units to the mix.

The visuals of Sid Meier's Civilization® VII are greatly enhanced, featuring detailed city architectures and unit designs, along with interactions with the historical leaders that deepen diplomacy and conflict management. Multiplayer options on the other hand support online competition with different formats, including multi-age campaigns and single sessions, with cross-play between PC and consoles. The game is designed to be enjoyable for both new players and seasoned generals, featuring improved tutorials and streamlined systems. Critics generally praise the presentation for this entry in the series, citing Civilization VII as visually appealing and captivating. Its gameplay combines the incredible exploration, expansion and strategic elements, while it manages to introduce engaging maps and lengthy campaigns to be enjoyed.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Dynasty Warriors: Origins is an early 2025 title that lets you become the hero in the exciting battles of the Three Kingdoms, where you would have to face against whole armies. Experience the intense action like never before in the franchise, as you do your best to utilize your strongest military skills alongside the powerful allies you have in numerous unique tactical battles.

The title makes a strong callback to the originals and it offers a much deeper view of the Three Kingdoms, presenting hundreds of interactions between various brave heroes of the times and tons of "1 vs. 100" action gameplay. Through your journey you would also interact with many noble characters from history and literature, but you would have to navigate this captivating world as an original protagonist known only as Ziluan the Wanderer.

The game made sure to revive the series and inject new excitement with a simplified approach focused much more on combat dynamics and immersive storytelling, all while maintaining its character and charm. Ziluan’s ability to navigate in battle allows for real-time battlefield information and rapid response to conflicts. Combat features smooth combination transitions of light and heavy attacks, emphasizing on impactful moments and really atmospheric dynamic battlefields.

DYNASTY WARRIORS: Origins definitely offers significant amounts of replayability and postgame content, featuring the largest number of enemies seen to this day in the franchise. It has refined the formula of the series on all fronts, making it a great choice for both newcomers and long-time fans. Next in the crosshair stands an entry you do not want to miss out on!

Sniper Elite Resistance

Sniper Elite: Resistance brought us a fine combination between action and stealth gameplay early on in 2025, allowing players to fight against numerous Nazi troops while employing tense warfare strategies. Set during WWII in occupied France in 1944, it serves as a continuation of Sniper Elite 5, focusing on Harry Hawker, a Special Operations Executive agent. Players collaborate with the French Resistance to eliminate a powerful new weapon that could help the Nazis win the war.

The game brings exceptional sniping mechanics and third-person combat, since it retains many familiar elements but also consistently offers new challenges, collectibles, unlockables and a very exciting invasion mode. With numerous targets and infiltration points providing flexibility in how to achieve your objectives, there is definitely room for a personalized playstyle. In an engaging narrative running parallel to Sniper Elite 5, it builds on the successful mechanics of the predecessors, resulting in a well-crafted sniping game with varied approaches similar to the ones in Hitman 3.

Your arsenal consists of authentic WWII weapons, including favorites from previous titles, along with new options for customized loadouts. The signature X-ray kill cam also makes a return, showcasing the impact of each shot in graphic detail. For those who prefer multiplayer experiences, the campaign is also available in co-op mode, allowing for shared resources and assistance during battles. There is also support for up to 16 players in competitive matches for XP and rewards. Alternatively, players can team up in Survival mode, facing waves of enemies. ARC Raiders

During Halloween season this year we got ARC Raiders, a post-apocalyptic extraction shooter that mainly focuses on teamwork and action. It features exciting gunplay, loot collection and a compelling endgame that would keep you wanting more. In-game, players explore a world filled with dangerous machines and an underground society called Speranza.

The surface is populated by aggressive machines known as ARC, requiring players to identify their weaknesses in order to survive. Each map has a rich backstory and unique environmental challenges, influenced by the shifting weather conditions and dangerous enemy encounters. Go through the remnants for loot that can be sold or used when crafting stronger gear to tackle the tougher challenges, gaining experience unlocks new gameplay options and features.

Craft and upgrade your gear in the workshop before scavenging the surface for valuable items and you just may survive long-enough. Each player must define an approach to survival and the identity of their Raider and then choose whether to play solo or with up to three other friends. There are various weapons and tactical options, including grenades and traps that further enhance the gameplay complexity. In Speranza, Traders assign missions for gear, crafting materials and invaluable experience points to help you level up your character. The skill tree offers paths for survival, mobility, and conditioning, allowing players to customize their playstyle, speed and strength. You might also wish to engage in Trials to test your skills and earn extra rewards.

Elden Ring Nightreign

After a series of hit games through the years and a critically acclaimed expansion, just how much more could Elden Ring offer? We got an answer for that question in the middle of 2025, as FromSoftware raised the bar of expectations once again with the thrilling cooperative multiplayer game - Elden Ring: Nightreign. It builds upon the souls-like experience and turns it into an incredible fast and aggressive adventure with a ruthless level of challenge.

Join forces and rise together with other warriors in order to take on the creeping forces of the night and the dangers hidden within this 3-player co-op experience based in the ELDEN RING universe. Take your command over the uniquely skilled hero types, each of them coming with their own set of distinct abilities and playstyle. Even on their own the powers they possess are great, but if you combine them, their skills create powerful synergies when united in a team with a common mission.

Get through all of the excruciating environmental threats and sweep the land that constantly changes between every in-game session and make sure you defeat the mighty boss of that night! Now, with the release of the Elden Ring Nightreign: Forsaken Hollows DLC, you get new heroes joining the cast of nightfarer characters to pick from, but beware as the forces of evil are also getting stronger! Now it is time to stop by at a new destination!

Cronos: The New Dawn

Cronos: The New Dawn is a late 2025 survival horror game where players fight to securely save the future by exploring and shifting the past. The title features a world that greatly combines Eastern European brutalism architecture with retro-futurist technology, presenting a gripping narrative set before and after a catastrophic event called The Change that has drastically altered humanity and its course.

Players get in the role of a traveler who works for a group known as the Collective. The main objective is to search for various time rifts that lead to the 1980s version of Poland, while at the same time facing against various horrifying creatures in a dangerous future wasteland. Your success depends on strategic planning and very quick decision-making. Beware when engaging with enemies as they could become more powerful through a process called Merging, which allows them to absorb the already fallen foes, making it crucial to burn their bodies quickly, or they will rise again as stronger threats.

To survive, you really must be as resourceful as possible, managing with limited supplies and ammunition while using temporal Anomalies to effectively navigate the environment. Additionally, players must collect Essences from key individuals in the past, then take them into the future. However, accumulating these Essences has some disturbing psychological effects, enhancing combat abilities but also risking to cause madness as they carry haunting whispers and visions with them. Explore the fine blend between horror and sci-fi that Cronos: The New Dawn brings forth, as it invites you to explore its dangerous world.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger

In October 2025 the RPG Digimon Story: Time Stranger dropped and it focuses on the strong bond between humans and the Digimon, while telling the story of the world's collapse. Players are going to embark on an adventure in both the human world as well as the Digital World, where they could collect and take care for a variety of Digimon, with whom to take part in turn-based battles.

The game starts with an agent from a secret organization who encounters a mysterious creature before a huge explosion happens and actually wakes up eight years in the past. Players must find out more about the mystery of the world’s downfall, encountering unique characters that influence their time-traveling journey and ultimately to somehow change fate.

Travel between the human world and the Digital World, Iliad, where the Digimon live in beautifully crafted environments filled with interactive elements and challenging special quests. The game offers a dynamic turn-based combat mode that mixes strategy with evolving battle mechanics, allowing players to choose from more than 450 Digimon and customize their teams for different challenges.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger aims to distinguish itself from Pokémon, presenting its own themes of digital monsters while at the same time maintaining engaging team-building and combat systems. The story is enhanced by time travel and a lively cast of Digimon characters, providing an enjoyable gameplay experience over a campaign that lasts 30 to 40 hours. The depth of combat and customization makes the adventure absolutely worthwhile, inviting players to return to the Digital World once again.

DOOM: The Dark Ages

In May we got blessed with DOOM: The Dark Ages, a prequel to DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal, offering us a cinematic story about the DOOM Slayer in a dark medieval war against the forces of Hell. This single-player game is set in a dark fantasy/sci-fi world, packed with intense combat and impressive visuals powered by the latest in graphics technology.

Players control the DOOM Slayer, a super human warrior destined to defeat both kings and gods! Witness the rise of a legend as the Slayer confronts Hell and alters the course of the war. Use your powerful weapons such as the classic Super Shotgun and new additions as the Saw Shield to cut through any enemy. Face your enemies on all kinds of brutal battlefields, engaging in the intense combat that the original DOOM is well-known for. This time the Slayer explores never-before-seen realms filled with demanding challenges and loot. He navigates through ruined castles, battlefields, dark forests and the worst hellish landscapes.

DOOM: The Dark Ages offers a completely new style within the franchise, delivering heavier, yet quite energetic gameplay in a medieval setting. Dune: Awakening

Nearly closing our list is Dune: Awakening, the latest survival MMO that effectively brings Frank Herbert's sci-fi universe to life. Players begin their adventure as weak characters and rise to become influential leaders on Arrakis. The game has a rich story and interesting worldbuilding that many players would surely appreciate.

In this Open World Survival RPG, players act as agents for the Bene Gesserit on Arrakis, tasked to find the missing Fremen. Locations of interest include Arrakeen and Hagga Basin, allowing for encounters with characters such as Duke Leto Atreides and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, all while experiencing a unique Dune story.

You can choose to explore solo or team up with your friends and dive in the vast sandy world of Arrakis, full of different stories, secrets and potential plunder. You really must carefully navigate around the dangerous sandworms, evade massive sandstorms, seek shelter from the scorching sun and learn skills from the Bene Gesserit. Players are able to build homes, explore any of the mountains or fly in ornithopters. To survive, you must gather as many resources as possible, build bases or refineries and craft various items and vehicles in them.

The game definitely offers a dynamic experience of Arrakis, featuring diverse landscapes, including dry deserts, hidden caves and city enclaves. Players can delve into various narratives about familiar characters and interact with them in many ways. You may even join factions like the Atreides or Harkonnen, uncovering the mystery of the Fremen, while shaping the story of your own path on how to thrive in the world of Arrakis. This brings us to the final game on the list of most addictive games in 2025!

Rue Valley

Our last entry is a very recent one - Rue Valley, a PC title where you would need to break free from the trap of a mysterious time loop! Each day feels like an uphill battle against the deadly shadows of your very own mind.
