Dark Moon is a survival strategy game where time is working against you. With the Moon’s electronics down, it is up to you to traverse the lunar surface, manage your crew and resources, and attempt to reestablish contact with Earth. The journey is unpredictable, forcing you to make critical decisions and live with their consequences. Whatever you do — don’t go into the light.
As a member of the Engineering Council sent by Moon Shell, you were tasked with overseeing the construction of a new lunar mining system. Everything changes when a massive solar storm devastates Earth, destroying all electronics. Soon after, the Moon’s main communication relay falls into sunlight, and everything touched by the Sun vanishes within seconds. The light becomes your enemy, and darkness your only refuge.
Solar Pressure
The Sun annihilates everything it touches, and you must constantly avoid its deadly radiance. The Mechaplex — a massive, multi-purpose engineering vehicle — serves as your mobile base of operations and your only means of escape. Plan carefully, keep moving, and stay ahead of this relentless threat.
Non-Linear Survival
Every playthrough offers a different experience, with locations and events producing unpredictable outcomes. Use drones to scan terrain and obstacles ahead, prepare for dangers, and decide how to handle other survivors who may wish to join your convoy. Gather minerals and exploit their properties to improve your odds of survival.
Manage Your Mobile Base
The Mechaplex is the heart of your survival. Construct new buildings on it, research advanced technologies, upgrade your crew’s abilities, and traverse the lunar plains. Develop mechanical prototypes to enhance mineral extraction or focus on improving convoy speed to escape the Sun’s reach. Staying in one place too long is not an option.
Impactful Decisions
You are not alone in this catastrophe. New crew members — including fellow pilots — may join you, bringing valuable skills and additional building platforms. But they must be fed and sheltered. Will you help those in need, or prioritize your own survival and risk betrayal? Every choice defines who you are.
Crew Relationships
Your crew reacts to your decisions. Some may resent alliances with members from rival nations, while others welcome them. Removing a popular crew member could spark unrest or even rebellion, leading to severe consequences for everyone aboard.
