Monthly Recap - March Edition

Monthly Recap - March Edition

Early Spring season has definitely delivered on some exciting updates, game announcements, and promising releases to be on the lookout for until the end of this year. So, let’s immediately have a better look at some of the more outstanding news that happened on the gaming scene during the month of March 2026 that we decided to cover for you:

The Deadliest Enemy In Arc Raiders Arrives at the Bule Gate Map

ARC Raiders developer Embark Studios shared a teaser video for the upcoming Flashpoint update, indicating that the Shredder, the game's most dangerous enemy, would finally be added to the gameplay.

The teaser hinted that the Shredder would appear on a new map, Blue Gate, with a message suggesting that the mighty enemy is escaping from Stella Montis. Earlier this year, design director Virgil Watkins mentioned that the game would possibly introduce the Shredder to other maps as well, while commenting on the addition to Blue Gate for the Flashpoint update.

The latest update is the third out of the four planned updates (scheduled between January and April) for the game as part of the previously announced 2026 Arc Raiders roadmap. The first update, Headwinds, was released in January with features for a new 1v3 matchmaking option + the Buried City area. In February, the Shrouded Sky update added two enemy types and another new location - Dam Battlegrounds. The third update closed off Q1 of 2026 with Flashpoint being set to launch on March 31st for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC.

The Shredder is pretty much recognized as probably the most lethal enemy in ARC Raiders. Social media posts from Embark had previously listed the game's deadliest enemies, ranking the Shredder at the top, followed by the Rocketeer and the Firefly. While specific casualty figures for the Shredder remain mysterious, players would quickly learn of the danger by visiting Stella Montis and we would move on to the next entry in the emission.

Monopoly: Star Wars Heroes vs. Villains Is a Real Thing and It Launches June 11th

Monopoly: Star Wars Heroes vs. Villains was announced to be set for launch on June 11th, 2026, developed by Behavior Interactive and published by Ubisoft. It is going to be available on multiple platforms including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. A full reveal of the game is scheduled to occur on April 29th, nearly coinciding with the celebrations for Star Wars Day on May the 4th.

This version of Monopoly would offer a fresh take on both IPs by combining the popular sci-fi franchise with the board-game twist in a team-based format. The game aims to create an engaging and dynamic experience that allows players to join 2v2 or 3v3 matches in both online and couch co-op modes. Players would be able to choose from a variety of Star Wars characters, each coming with unique abilities, to compete against opponents in the other teams.

Skills such as team coordination and proper character selection are most likely crucialyou’re your success, alongside the luck component of the more traditional dice rolls. The game would probably feature a custom board design that includes famous Star Wars locations, dynamic events that change the flow of the game and of course some cinematic moments, thus ensuring varied gameplay with every match.

The list of characters that are confirmed so far includes Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Rey Skywalker and Kylo Ren, with many more planned for the final reveal. More specific details about the Monopoly: Star Wars Heroes vs. Villains game, its pricing and potential pre-order bonuses are still expected to be shared during the official reveal on April 29th. Let’s move on further to the next important pick of the month!

The Upcoming Open World Survival Permafrost is set in a Frozen Post-Apocalyptic Earth

Permafrost is a recently announced upcoming open world survival game that is scheduled for a release on the Windows PC in 2026. This title is set in a frozen post-apocalyptic Earth and it is developed by SpaceRocket Games and published by Toplitz Productions. The game is of course mainly focused on survival, exploration and cooperative gameplay elements, while roaming through the frozen world that was transformed because of the occurrence of a global catastrophe known as "The Shattering", which shattered the Moon and caused an endless icy winter on our planet. Civilization has fallen apart, leaving what’s left of humanity scattered in small groups trying to somehow survive the harsh conditions.

Players act as survivors exploring this dangerous environment for supplies, shelter and most importantly - answers about the catastrophe. The Permafrost adventure begins in the last safe settlements and players must venture into abandoned areas to find a friend believed to be lost in the icy wilderness. Survival is of key importance, as you need to manage basic needs such as body temperature, hunger and exhaustion.

The harsh climate poses as your greatest threat, requiring careful planning for excursions into the wild. The open world includes abandoned towns, snow-covered forests, ruined camps and even underground locations where resources and secrets are often hidden. Players can travel on foot or use various vehicles in order to gather supplies and explore better. Scavenging materials would be vital for crafting all of the necessary equipment and building your shelters or bases that are able to withstand severe weather. These bases also serve as safe havens for resting, cooking, storing supplies and preparing for your future explorations.

Players will meet other survivors, some of whom may trade or cooperate, while others could act hostile, thus adding an element of unpredictability to the Permafrost gameplay. The game also offers online cooperative multiplayer for up to four players so that they have the ability to explore the world together. A very unique feature is the presence of a loyal dog companion, which could also help with danger detection and to carry additional gear. By masterfully blending exploration, survival mechanics and cooperative play, Permafrost creates a tense experience during which survival in this frozen world greatly relies on careful planning, obtaining allies and high adaptability.

The Next Ambitious Cyberpunk Shooter is named DEFECT

DEFECT is an upcoming cyberpunk shooter created by the independent studio emptyvessel, using Unreal Engine 5, so get ready for some Squad Tactics and Destructible Worlds with this one. You are going to face up to sets of changing objectives in the dystopian setting ruled by artificial intelligence, thus getting a unique experience every time. As of now, there is no concrete release date, but players are already able to Wishlist the title on Windows PC platforms through the DEFECT Steam page.

The storyline in DEFECT takes place in the last city of humanity, which is controlled by an authoritarian AI named “The System.” Within the city itself there are various factions fighting for power, including police units, rogue officers and criminal gangs. Players can join different groups and actively engage in the ongoing conflict that affects the city.

A key aspect of the DEFECT gameplay is its emphasis on environmental destruction, where players can damage or destroy buildings and objects, influencing the manner in which battles unfold. The game aims for an immersive experience by minimizing traditional user interface elements, encouraging players to rely on in-game devices and environmental cues for information. Another unique mechanic is the ability to transfer consciousness between characters during combat, thus allowing players to switch perspectives on the go.

Since DEFECT focuses on squad-based combat so much, teams must work together to achieve the mission objectives in a very chaotic environment. Players typically engage in missions that involve tasks such as smuggling weapons, assassinating targets or performing arrests, with the potential of objectives changing at any time based on the player’s actions.

The unique PvP structure encourages multiple squads to compete simultaneously, emphasizing strategic and coordinated gameplay instead of just the traditional team deathmatch concepts. As for those of you who prefer solo play, DEFECT is going to also feature a single-player campaign and cooperative PvE modes, allowing for exploration of the game’s world while still maintaining a great focus on teamwork and tactics. If successful enough, DEFECT could certainly stand out as a distinctive cyberpunk shooter, blending intense firefights with strategic gameplay in a world torn by conflicts for dominance and control.

Darkness Grows Within Every Pact Made in Blackroots - a Cooperative Horror Survival Game

Blackroots is a cooperative horror action game from Dizzy Games, where players could either work together in tandem or go solo to combat against the spreading darkness linked to an ancient evil named Ul’vorran. The titles is set for an Early Access release on Windows PC via Steam in late 2026 and it mixes survival mechanics with engaging narratives in a fantasy world plagued by utter corruption.

There is also a dark backstory involving a secret order that investigated the powers of forbidden magic in order to shield the world from evil forces. While some members were able to resist corruption, others performed dangerous pacts with Ul’vorran for more power, resulting in quite the tragic consequences. Over centuries, Ul’vorran's corruption was spreading wide and far, creating malevolent black roots that overtook and twisted the land. Those who resisted formed a splinter group called Obscura, that is strongly dedicated to fighting this darkness and protecting others at the same time.

Players are taking on the role of the ones that are managing to resist this evil forces, trying to purge corruption away, break as many of the unholy pacts and ultimately survive Ul’vorran's influence. Therefore, a sanity meter is added to the array of psychological horror elements; when it reaches zero, players are pulled into the Madness Maze, where they must escape through the shifting corridors while being increasingly more hunted. This adds extra tension to the exploration and combat mechanics and further boosts the dark atmosphere of the Blackroots gameplay. The title promises a fine blend between dark fantasy horror and cooperative gameplay, with a storyline that deepens with each pact the players manage to break and what’s more is the fact that the game’s world responds to the different actions, making every win or loss feel much more impactful.

The Early Access version of BlackRoots is going to feature various purge maps and the first chapter of the structured story mode, offering both narrative and survival challenges. Players would have a leveling system that will allow them to unlock new tools and purchasing them with an in-game currency at the shops offering items.

With this we conclude the list of our most important picks for the March 2026 YUPLAY Monthly Recap edition as we start looking forward to the upcoming Q2 months in gaming with great interest because there would be even more happening throughout this year and we can’t wait to tell you all about it!
