Fight Your Way from an Outcast to Infamous Pirate in Skull and Bones

As of the moment of writing of this article the title in is its pre-order stage with lots of goodies planned if you join the waitlist, if you do so you would receive the “Highness of the High Sea Pack”, which includes the Notoriety Garb and Coronation Firework. That’s far from all though as there is going to be a Closed Beta stage that you can experience firsthand and register for between the dates of 25.08 – 28.08 this year, so make sure to check out the official website if that sparks your interest! You could be one of the first players to not only participate in the adventures the title has to offer, but also contribute to its progress and better it for others ahead. The Skull and Bones release date is set on course to reach the gaming shores during the 2023–2024 fiscal year and has been planned to be available for Amazon Luna, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Your world, your rules!

Your personal Skull and Bones gameplay journey begins as an outcast with the single main goal of becoming one of the most infamous pirates to have ever lived. You have a humble start from rags to riches that would require you to climb up the ranks of notoriety by slaying and plundering anything that stands on your way to the objectives you have set for yourself. Make sure to adapt the look and feel of your character to suit your preferences best and then further develop them as you progress through the campaign. These could include unique outfits, swords and accessories that would be fitted to your character and decorate them properly.

After a lucky survival of a shipwreck, you embark on adventures around the pirate dens, which would allow you to craft new equipment, buy or potentially steal a ship to use and hire men to manage it.

Take enough provisions, stock up on ammo for your dangerous expeditions as you would need them and many other things to use while also finding commissions to do some not so typical or official contracting jobs. The way you prepare your strategy and resources is going to be crucial to your success and the key determining factor as you rank up the ladder of fame.

The higher you climb the more you got at your disposal!

Even though you would start small, if you play your cards right, you will quickly gather enough resources for various upgrades and improvements to your vessel, its special abilities and attributes, and develop a unique experience that only you have.

Be wary when in open waters since you would have to monitor the condition of both your ship and crew’s discipline. They are mostly ruthless looters that would not have second thoughts if mutiny is proving as a more viable option than to follow your orders. Keep them happy and satisfied with enough food, action, valuable prizes and they would remain loyal to you as long as it is a good bargain for them, if not you may walk the plank in seconds.

If things go sideways, you would find yourself at the nearest den available and might have to catch up with the lost progress and try to regain it back if possible. If your ship had been sunk or destroyed you may be able to retrieve parts of it but some would be gathered by other aspiring crews or lost to the depths forever.

Maintain your reputation at all times.

As a pirate you should live the way pirates do, or you would not get hired for commissions and you do not want that, so make sure to keep your notoriety high among others and just the mere mention of your name to strike down the minds, hearts and spirits of others to shake.

Do what is necessary and it would all be well rewarded, make too many wrong moves or mistakes and your blood would be the price to pay. Though this is the main way to build up your presence among the ruthless, the game offers many other methods that could prove useful such as; plunders and raids, treasure hunts and different types of dynamic events to take active part in.

Hunt the different wild animal species and take their skins or meat in order to maintain your crew, gain invaluable resources such as wood, iron or precious metals that would help you with repairs or improvements on your ship.

The ships in Skull and Bones are an incredibly important aspect of the game.

The vessel you have is quite representative of your own image and style, so it should be well treated and taken care of on a continuous basis, as it could be used in many ways and it is your most loyal and trusty companion on the journeys that you undertake. You can modify it to become one of a few main types such as: Cargo ship, Battle ship, Navigation ship.

Each of these has its own stats and special features and depending on the type some would be faster or heavier with more cargo storage, different types of armor and firepower on board as well as the number of people required to handle them properly.

As the Captain you would have to select what you would specialize in and stick to it for a long enough time until you decide to repurpose your vessel or get a new one.

In the waters there are not only enemies but allies as well.

Just like there is endless potential, there is also much to be avoidant or careful with. Immerse yourself in the perilous paradise of the Skull and Bones gameplay as you live and breathe the ultimate pirate fantasy, either alone or with others on your side. You are free to choose how you want to play and socialize with the different NPCs or active users, either PvE only or PvEvP in the Skull and Bones multiplayer modes.

Sail the Indian Ocean solo or in groups of up to three. Rule the seas with your friends and/or with the other pirate Captains you encounter on your adventures.

In any case you can use your spy glass to detect the ships around you and what they potentially hold that could pose an interest to you. Decide if you would declare allegiance or hostility to any other crew, you encounter and if it is worth your time or not. If you do think that it is possible to attack then carefully pick your methods and approach, as the long-range battle would have limited loot to obtain but also be safer and can cost you less damage and casualties.

The best prizes come when you board the enemy ship though, as you would be able to conquer it and enslave the crew or collect any and all goods it might hold in its cargo. You could be trapped or hunted by mightier crews so be very careful not to get on the wrong side of blades and cannons yourself. After all you are still not the top of the list and until that happens threats could arrive from any direction.

One thing is for sure the Skull and Bones open-world has much to offer anyone that dares to enter the pirate experience and seek glorious achievements in that occupation. As you make progress, you would feel how more detailed the customizations of your personal avatar and ship become making it more distinct and unique above the waves. You should withstand the whims of the tides, storms and other environmental events as the waters could be unpredictable, no matter if the wind is on your side or not. If your skills are great enough you would hold to what is most important to you – the reputation, ship and collected bounty, if not you shall fall and your demise would mean nothing in this cruel and unforgiving world.
