The Grand Theft Auto 6 Delay Has Just Impacted the Whole Industry of Games

We finally got an officially confirmed GTA 6 release date! It is sadly delayed by six more months from the Fall of 2025 timeframe we previously hoped for. The new official date of May 26, 2026 had quite the mixed reaction as fans have to now wait a whole year to get their hands on the title but tens of other publishers and developers, that were fearful of potentially coinciding their upcoming releases in the same month (or even quarter) as one of gaming’s most awaited titles ever, definitely had a good stress break! While the announced delay is surely a fact that disappoints those wanting to play the title ASAP, it is also a gigantic sigh of relief to those currently developing other game titles.

These would be the cases of multiple other hits including the likes of Fable, Gears of War: E-Day, a new Battlefield title, the Mass Effect successor Exodus and many other splendid titles. All of these are scheduled to land at some point next year and may have to seriously search for a viable window to reach market properly, taking into full consideration the juggernaut GTA title by Rockstar everyone is looking at, since it does seem to have a huge ripple and tide effect on the whole industry. History has shown that huge releases do not always completely override the competition around them. For example, the Oblivion remake by Bethesda and Kepler Interactive’s RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 still sold millions of copies in mere days, even though they both got recently released during the same timeframe. Estimates have now shown another quite disruptive aspect on industry and it is the fact that the most popular GTA sequel to date would probably garner $1 billion from pre-orders alone and another $3.2 billion in the first 12 months after it launches. There are even strong indications and rumors that it might be the first game to cost 100$, thus setting a new hallmark in prices for titles of such caliber!

Rockstar seems to still need more work done on the upcoming Grand Theft Auto title if they wish to deliver a game that would change the video gaming world and landscape forever and it should do its best to avoid slipping back into problematic routines and delay spirals! What might be one of the bigger surprises however is that Nintendo may be one of the parties to get most positively affected by this recent delay since Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has already pledged full support for the Switch 2, leading fans to believe that Grand Theft Auto 6 may also be getting a probable Switch 2 launch. After all Nintendo Switch had multiple successful game titles including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption, Metal Gear Solid, Crysis and many other worthy hit titles and as Cyberpunk 2077 is also getting released on the Nintendo Switch 2 from the start, it would be wise of us to not ignore the possibilities for a GTA6 port in the making.

One thing is certain; there are a lot of high expectations on Grand Theft Auto 6 and its prominent role as a generation-defining game that would potentially reignite the industry’s growth and prosperity. As a game that has been in the making for over a decade now, Rockstar only has one chance to do this right and what are 6 additional months added to the wait after more than a decade, right?

Monster Hunter Wilds Got Serious Hints for the Upcoming Title Update 2 Content

The Title Update 2 in Monster Hunter Wilds is going to present 8 new monster creatures to the game, so fans could expect many thrilling battles, challenging hunts, and boosted weapons in the upcoming release.

The director for Monster Hunter Wilds - Yuya Tokuda has recently hinted at some new in-game features coming in Title Update 2 that would include additional enemies and layered weapon features. It seems that Capcom has taken the initiative to introduce more end-game content to the action RPG since the team has been working hard to include more adventure for the highest-level players in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Recently Monster Hunter Wilds experienced a sudden drop in player count by almost 50% for the short period of just two weeks. Many people think that the decline is rooted in the lack of engaging content after players reach a higher level at which the available monsters become far too easy to beat.

Yuya Tokuda made sure to comfort fans that the title would feature more interesting hunts very soon when Title Update 2 launches during the summer. There would now be 8-star tempered monsters and a completely new arch-tempered creature that would be stronger versions with boosted health, greater damage potential and newly added moves. The director also pointed to the inclusion of layered weapons, which would probably become a beloved feature by fans very quickly. This type of feature would probably allow players to further modify their weapon outlook while at the same time keeping their stats.

Here is a list of everything that got teased for the Title Update 2 in Monster Hunter Wilds:

  • - New 8-star monsters types
  • - New arch monster type
  • - Layered weapon types
  • - Hammer weapon improvements
  • - Seikret usability improvements
  • - New quality-of-life features
  • - Improved character display in Photo Mode
  • - Option to disable the glow effects in Photo Mode

Seikrets are the best possible companions to the player in Monster Hunter Wilds, that offer important utilities and even play a vital role in combat and action because of the game's newly-introduced adaptive mount mechanics. One of the more popular criticisms has been that the automatic travel feature makes exploration feel boring, but the director assured fans that there are now several great improvements in the pipeline for the companion creatures.

The Photo Mode in Monster Hunter Wilds is also receiving some cool updates this summer since players would be able to turn their hunter's visibility on and off, as well as to remove some of the visual effects for skills and items if they want.

Yuya Tokuda wanted to assure fans that Capcom's open-world RPG is going to keep getting regular update packs as he promised that the future balance adjustments are going to make all of the hunts much more enjoyable. While fans are still waiting for the Title Update 2, they could experience the latest major Monster Hunter Wilds patch from May 28, which introduces a Street Fighter 6 collaboration.

Live-Action Film Adaptation of ELDEN RING Got Announced

Bandai Namco Entertainment and A24 have already announced the launch of a film project for a live-action film adaptation of FromSoftware Inc.’s world-renowned video game ELDEN RING with Alex Garland in the Director seat!

ELDEN RING got released under the guidance of FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki that is based on a mythical storyline written by the famous author George R. R. Martin. ELDEN RING is an action-adventure RPG situated in a dark fantasy world where players get to explore the vast areas and massive dungeons to find what the unknown has to offer and somehow manage to overcome the various challenges you would find on your journey. The title was originally released on the 25th of February 2022, and has boasted more than 30 million sales worldwide.

In order to transfer the epic video game vision and world as well as much of the intense action typical for ELDEN RING to movie screens, the cinematic project is going to be directed by the filmmaker Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Civil War, Warfare) who would act as both the writer and director. The film is rumored to be produced by Peter Rice alongside Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich, as well as George R. R. Martin and Vince Gerardis getting a serious involvement in the project.

Currently an interesting ELDEN RING spinoff is the newest craze, ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN is set for simultaneous worldwide release on the 30th of May 2025. The latest title is an action-adventure game in which players would have to co-operate with each other in order to overcome a variety of challenging situations. While it does carry features from the original ELDEN RING such as weapons and enemies types, this title has been redesigned quite a bit to provide the player base with a fresh gameplay experience. Players can select from a group of unique characters to face off against the emerging threats on their journey.

This concludes the monthly May recap and we are now heading into the summer season awaiting more of the upcoming titles to reach the market. Expect many new reviews and interesting news in gaming in the coming months and stay tuned for the future promotions we have prepared for you at YUPLAY!
